Dr Ippokratis Sarris is a Consultant in Gynaecology, Reproductive Medicine and Surgery. He graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge, in 1999 and completed his medical degree at Magdalen College, Oxford. Following this he started to specialize in the field of Obstetrics and Gynaecology in London. He became a Member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, and joined OMPHI (Oxford Maternal Perinatal Health Institute) for 2 years as a Clinical Research Fellow working for an international collaborative study. His research work during this time formed the basis for his subsequent Doctor of Medicine (DM) degree. He completed his general Obstetric and Gynaecology training in London having worked at a number of large university teaching hospitals such as Guy’s and St Thomas’, the Royal Free, St George’s and King’s College Hospital. Following this he moved to Newcastle where he completed his subspecialty training in Reproductive Medicine and Surgery leading to his dual accreditation with the General Medical Council as a specialist both in Reproductive Medicine as well as Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
Dr Sarris has a passion for teaching and academic work. He has published two post- graduate textbooks in the field of Obstetrics and Gynaecology with Oxford University Press, along with over 20 peer reviewed articles in scientific journals and four book chapters. In 2010 he was awarded the prestigious British Medical Association’s Book of the Year Award for Obstetrics and Gynaecology. He has tutored and lectured extensively both undergraduate medical students and trainee doctors.
Dr Sarris is an active member of numerous medical organisations. He has been elected on to the Executive Committee of the British Fertility Society where he is also a member of their Training Subcommittee. As such, he is responsible for running the society’s accreditation course in pelvic ultrasound. In the past he was an elected member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists’ Subspecialty Committee, which oversees subspecialty training in the UK.
Dr Sarris believes that medicine is a vocation and as such is active in charitable medical work. He is a co-founder and chairman of MaTI (Maternity Training International) and an executive editor of GLOWM (the Global Library Of Women’s’ Medicine). Dr Sarris joined CREATE as he fully embraces the philosophy and ethos of the guiding principles underpinning its treatments.
His special interests include fertility treatment in the context of complex medical problems, male and female reproductive endocrinology, ovarian aging, complex protocols and advanced ultrasound. Dr Sarris is passionate about tailored treatments, high quality care and a satisfying patient journey.
