Dr Chouliaras is a Consultant in Gynaecology, Reproductive Medicine and surgery. He is also our Lead of Hysteroscopy at our St Paul's fertility clinic. He qualified in the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in Greece and completed all his specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in the North West of England (Greater Manchester).
During this period he gained broad clinical experience in general Obstetrics and Gynaecology and developed specialist skills by completing the Advanced Skills Training Modules (ATSMs) in Subfertility and Reproductive Endocrinology and in Hysteroscopy. He also holds a diploma (DFFP) from the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare.
Dr Chouliaras obtained the certificate of completion of training (CCT) from the North Western Deanery in 2011 and worked as an NHS Consultant in the region before moving to London to pursue further training in Reproductive Medicine which has always been his special interest.
He subsequently completed a two and a half years fellowship in St Bartholomew’s (Barts) Centre for Reproductive Medicine where he received training in all aspects of assisted conception (IVF), reproductive medicine and surgery. He has been certified by the British Fertility Society in Pelvic Ultrasound and Embryo Transfer and Intrauterine Insemination techniques.
Spyridon has a special interest in assisted reproduction techniques, endometriosis, gynaecological endocrinology, menopause, PCOS, pelvic pain, early pregnancy complications and recurrent miscarriages as well as in the management of uterine abnormalities. He has expertise in gynaecological ultrasound scan including 3D scanning and has significant experience in advanced laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgery.
He is a Member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) and an associate member of many other learned societies including the British Fertility Society (BFS), European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE) and the International Society for Mild Approaches in Assisted Reproduction (ISMAAR).
He has authored several chapters in Obstetrics and Gynaecology textbooks as well as other publications in peer-reviewed medical journals. He is also an associate editor in the Obstetrics & Gynecology International Journal (OGIJ).
Spyridon enjoys skiing, fitness, scuba-diving and modern art and is a keen chess player and a member of MENSA. Being a strong believer of a safer and more natural approach to IVF, Dr Chouliaras joined the team in September 2014 coinciding with a very exciting time for CREATE, the opening of the St. Paul's European Centre of Excellence.
