This award recognises her ground-breaking work in fertility and reproductive medicine.
This special award is presented by the Chair of the judging panel to one outstanding woman of achievement who, the judges feel, most exemplifies the values and aspirations of the Asian Women of Achievement Awards.
As Medical Director at CREATE Fertility IVF clinic’s and Senior Consultant at St George’s Hospital in West London, alongside her leading roles in multiple charitable foundations, Geeta has been a pioneer in researching safer and more affordable methods of IVF.
The awards were presented on the 4th June 2014 at the London Hilton on Park Lane, guests included awards patron Cherie Blair, Princess Badiya bint El Hassan, Elizabeth Hurley and Dame Kelly Holmes.
Commenting on her win, Professor Nargund said:
“The receipt of this award is one I was not expecting, and I am deeply honoured to join such an outstanding roll-call of previous winners. It is a recognition of the success I have had in convincing women and the medical profession that milder and more natural approaches to fertility treatment are safer for the short and long-term term health of women and children. I hope that this award will help me in my quest to change women’s lives, and offer safer, affordable more accessible fertility treatments to all women, no matter what their situation.”
The judges also commented on their decision to recognise Professor Nargund:
“Our winner is a global pioneer of reproductive medicine. She is an internationally renowned doctor, innovator and campaigner with an unwavering commitment to making fertility treatment safer, more affordable and accessible both in the UK and in developing countries.
The judges were stunned by this candidate, remarking that she has the potential to have a “huge impact” not just domestically, but globally, as she works to make fertility treatments more readily available to more women.
Her work is her passion. This candidate is on a global mission for women all over the world.
The judges said that with her level of ambition, there is no doubt that she will go on to become a household name.”
